The
Chiltern Baroque Soloists are virtuoso players
who live in our neighbourhood. They
have given a number of widely acclaimed
concerts in Chesham in recent years.
Peter
Hanson, violin
Peter is leader
of Sir John Eliot
Gardiner’s Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and a guest leader
of
the London Symphony Orchestra.
His recent engagements include leading the Mahler Chamber
Orchestra in Salzburg under Daniel Harding. He has recorded CDs of
Handel, Scarlatti and Caldara with Cecilia Bartoli and Les Musiciens du
Louvre.
Rachel
Beckett, flute and recorder
Rachel has
recently toured Europe in Bach's St
Matthew Passion. Future engagements
include international tours performing works by Mozart with Sir John
Eliot Gardiner's English
Baroque Soloists. She also plays with the Academy of Ancient Music and
the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
David
Miller, lute
and theorbo
David
is
Professor of Lute at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and
teaches at the Dartington International Summer School. He also directs
the
West Dean Summer School in Early Music Performance. David has performed
with Fiori Musicali, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Ex
Cathedra, The Sixteen, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the London
Handel Orchestra, the Academy of Ancient Music and I Fagiolini. His
future engagements include work with English National Opera and
recitals with several leading singers.
David
Watkin, cello
David is
Principal
Cello with the Philharmonia Orchestra. His recording
of Vivaldi's cello sonatas for Hyperion gained the maximum ten stars
from BBC
Music magazine. He
has recorded Haydn's Sinfonia
Concertante with the
Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and
appeared at Carnegie Hall with Sir John Eliot Gardiner's Orchestre
Révolutionaire et Romantique.
Silas
Standage,
harpsichord
Silas performs
with
many of the leading Baroque orchestras. His own
ensemble, The Private Music, won the Early Music Competition in 1999.
He has composed music for Fretwork and is currently editing the theatre
music of Matthew Locke.
